Chapter 8 Settings and Personalization
Chapter 8 Settings and Personalization
“Options → Settings” (Ctrl+,) opens the settings dialog with three
pages: Theme Preferences, System Integration, Background
Image. Changes apply immediately; “OK” persists them to
~/.wxarc/settings.json.
8.1 Theme preferences
- Theme Font: font family (a searchable dropdown with preview) and font size (8–32).
- Switch Mode:
- Follow System: switches with the system dark/light mode.
- By Time: switches between two themes on a schedule — configure “UI Dark Theme” and “UI Light Theme” plus the start times (“Dark Theme Start” / “Light Theme Start”).
- Disabled: manual switching only.
Note: the dark/light dropdowns configure the automatic switching targets; they do not change the current theme. Manual switching uses the title bar or “Options → UI Theme”.
8.2 System integration
- File manager context menu: right-clicking archives or folders in Nautilus / Caja / Dolphin / Nemo shows “Extract / Compress with WxArc”. Enabled by the installer; the toggle can turn it off and on at any time (system authorization required).
- File association: make ZIP / RAR / 7Z / TAR-family and other archive formats open with WxArc by default (double-click in the file manager).
- Finder Extension (macOS only): shows the registration status and guidance — enable WxArc under System Settings → Login Items & Extensions, then “Extract / Compress with WxArc” appears in Finder’s context menu.
8.3 Background image
- Mode: None / Content Area (file table only) / Full Window.
- Image Path: pick a PNG / JPEG image.
- Opacity: dim the background so content stays readable.
- Clear: back to plain color.
8.4 Language
“Options → Language” or the title-bar language button switches among 21 interface languages: Arabic, German, English, Spanish, French, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Dutch, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Swedish, Thai, Turkish, Vietnamese, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese (Hong Kong), Traditional Chinese (Taiwan). Applied immediately.
8.5 Custom themes
“Options → Custom Theme” (Ctrl+Alt+T) opens the theme editor: start from any built-in theme (“Copy system theme”), adjust interface colors (background/text/accent/border, …), name it and save — it then appears under “User Themes” in the theme list. Theme names can carry translations for multiple languages.
8.6 Keymap
“Options → Keymap” (Ctrl+Alt+K) opens the keymap editor: bind key combinations to actions (Open Archive, Extract to…, Test archive, …). The list shows defined mappings; “Map Key” adds, “Edit” modifies, “Delete” removes.
