Chapter 7. Settings & Personalization

“Options → Settings” (Ctrl+,) opens the settings dialog; the reader window’s toolbar “Settings” button opens the same one. A navigation tree on the left, four pages, instant apply on save.

Settings dialog

7.1 Theme page

  • Theme font: UI font family (searchable) and size.
  • Switching mode:
    • Follow system: switches with the OS light/dark appearance;
    • By time: switches to the dark/light theme at the configured times;
    • Disabled: fully manual.
  • The dark/light dropdowns pick which theme each state uses (a stored preference — it may differ from the currently applied theme); start times are configurable in time mode.

Manual theme/language switching uses the title bar dropdowns on the right (submenus open to the left).

7.2 Reader page

Item Description
Font size body text size of text panels
Line height / paragraph spacing 0.1 steps (stored ×10 internally)
Alignment left / justified
Invert dark-mode reading (PDF/text)
Brightness 0–100% overlay
Auto scroll timed scrolling of text panels (interval configurable in the settings file)

7.3 Background image page

  • Mode: None / Content area (image behind the reading content) / Full window (title bar, menus, toolbars all translucent, image shows through).
  • The path row has “Browse” and “Clear”.
  • A transparency slider adjusts the image strength.
  • Saving applies immediately to the library and every open reader window — no restart needed.

7.4 File association page

  • Open supported formats with wxreader: when enabled, PDF / EPUB / MOBI / AZW3 / PRC / Markdown / TXT / CHM files open with wxreader by default (double-clicking a file in the file manager starts reading); disabling restores the previous system defaults.
  • The toggle applies immediately (no save needed). Linux stores a user-level association config and Windows writes the current user’s registry; on macOS use Finder’s “Open With”.

7.5 Custom themes

“Options → Custom Theme” (Ctrl+Alt+T) opens the theme editor: modify the color slots of an existing theme and save; it then appears in the theme dropdown.

7.6 Keymap

“Options → Keymap” (Ctrl+Alt+K) views and remaps menu-action shortcuts (overriding defaults, applied on save).
