Chapter 9 — Configuration Files

All user data lives in a single directory, fully separate from wxterm:

9.1 File Overview

File	Purpose
`settings.json`	All settings: `options` (theme/language/UI font/theme switching) + `editor` (editor fonts/wrap/reader)
`history.json`	Recent projects (max 20 entries)
`remote.json`	Remote server list; passwords AES-GCM encrypted with a master key stored alongside
`execute.json`	Install-location pointer `{"exec": "<path>"}` used by wxterm to launch this app; verified on every startup
`keymap.json`	User keymap overrides (system defaults live in `share/wxeditor/config/keymap.json`)
`themes.json`	User custom themes
`wxeditor_debug.json`	Debug breakpoints and run configs
`ai/`	AI engine data: provider.json (models), wxeditor.dat (secrets), task/ (task store), skills/ (skills)

themeSwitchMode: follow-system or by-time (using darkThemeStartTime/lightThemeStartTime).
options.language: the UI language code; when absent, the system locale is used.
The file is read/written by the app (serialized through a mutex); after manual edits, restart the app.

9.3 Theme Auto-Switching

Follow system: listens for the system dark/light change and switches between uiDarkTheme and uiLightTheme instantly.
By time: checks the clock once a minute; during the dark window (e.g. 18:00–06:00) the dark theme applies, otherwise the light one.

9.4 Uninstall Leftovers

Uninstalling does not remove the config directory. To clean up completely, delete the whole ~/.wxeditor/ directory (back up remote.json and ai/ first if you need the server list or AI sessions).
